Advantages and disadvantages of water heaters
Electric water heater (English name: Electric Water Heater) is a household appliance that specializes in providing hot water for households to use in daily activities such as: bathing, cleaning, etc.
Surely, the water heater has become a familiar and extremely important hot water supply device for Vietnamese households, especially on cold winter days.
Currently, there are 2 main types of electric water heaters on the market: direct water heaters and indirect water heaters.
Instant water heater
Direct water heaters are machines that can heat water quickly in just a few seconds with a heating wire without the need for a tank. Therefore, the machine has a compact design, saving time waiting for hot water. However, the water heating temperature of this device is usually only around 45 - 55 degrees Celsius, the power source is large and the current is high for direct heating with a copper wire, so it is not safe for electricity and there is a risk of fire. Therefore, direct water heaters are not suitable for use in places with very cold climates. Especially in winter in the northern provinces of our country. Moreover, for direct water heaters to operate stably, they need high water pressure and areas with high voltage. In places with too low voltage, the machine will have difficulty operating.

Indirect water heaters are very popular hot water supply devices in households. This is a machine line with a water tank with a capacity of about 30 liters (depending on the model). The operating mechanism of the machine is to mix hot water with cold water to create warm water for the user. The water heating temperature of the machine can be up to 70 - 80 degrees Celsius (easy to cause burns for the elderly and children). When needed, the tank must be turned on and waited, during use, the power must be turned off otherwise there is danger of direct electrical leakage into the water. However, with a large tank, the machine often becomes bulky and complicated. Moreover, with a high water heating temperature, households with young children or the elderly need to be very careful to avoid burns. When the temperature is high, it often causes calcium deposits to form, which consumes more electricity than the original and quickly damages the shell or the tank.
Advantages and disadvantages of heat pump
Heat Pump Water Heater is a water heating device that operates on the principle of “Thermodynamics”. Thermal energy is taken from the surrounding environment and transferred from one environment to another, the machine has the opposite operating principle to the air conditioner.
Normally, the Heat Pump only allows heat to move in a certain direction from "hot to cold" or from "cold to hot". Nowadays, heat pumps have been widely used to meet the demand for large hot water and save electricity, safety and comfort for households or in motels, hotels, resorts, etc.
Source clean water solution for family hotels
Compare using heat pump with water heater for hotel
- The machine is only used to operate the pump without directly heating water with electricity, so it can save 70% of electricity compared to a water heater
- Overcome the problem of electric leakage and explosion of water heaters to ensure safety for users
- There is air, there is hot water, not dependent on sunny or rainy weather conditions like a solar water heater
- Environmentally friendly, does not cause pollution like gas and gasoline machines
- The machine has many types, large and small capacities to provide enough hot water for families, motels, hotels, swimming pools, resorts, etc.
- Just need a central hot water system installed on the roof or attic of the building to be able to provide hot water for the entire apartment or building. Overcome the disadvantage of needing many devices such as water heaters, which is costly
Disadvantages of Heat Pump compared to water heater
Heat pumps have a fairly high initial installation cost, twice as much as water heaters
Take up more space and area but are placed on the attic or roof of the water heater
The popularity is still quite low, so consumers have little understanding of the product
